Winter Blast

We have been hit with a winter blast these last few days.  Not really any snow but strong winds that haven't stopped for the last few days.  This morning we woke up to freezing rain and a dust of snow.  School was initially a two hour late start but then a hour later changed to no school.  So Daisy is home from school which Clark is not too happy about.  He looked at the window and declared, "Daisy, there is not that much snow outside, you can still go to school."  Clark likes having me all to himself when Daisy is at kindergarten.  Even though Daisy is out of school, I'm still planning on doing some homeschooling with Clark and will include Daisy too! The girls took about 15 minutes to get dress to "play" in the freezing rain and dust of snow but didn't last more than two minutes outside! Daisy said after coming in, "That wind blew my mind off!" The wind is so strong that we can hear it howl.  Kaeley with a sacred look nervously asks, "Are zombies coming?".  (The last few months Clark has been really into this game on my phone called, 'Plants vs Zombies".  So Kaeley has picked it up from that. Didn't want you guys to think I teach and talk about zombie to my three year old. :) )

Of course, we there is a winter blast you have to bring out the hot cocoa! My kids' favorite thing about the winter time.  They insist that I turn on the Christmas music too!

 In order to keep us warm, we baked bunch of yummy food!  We made an apple cake cobbler and cookies.  Kaeley was my big helper in the kitchen.  She washed the apples and helped assemble the cobbler together.  Clark chopped up the rest of the chocolate candy bars left from Halloween and added it to the cookie dough.  Yum! The kitchen smelled amazing! 

Since we were stuck inside I decided to do some fun crafts with the kids.  Daisy was the only one that stayed with it.  Not surprising since she is the queen of arts and crafts.  We made a garland out of Christmas trees from paper plates that we painted, decorated and cutout.  Thanks Pinterest for the idea.  Even the kitchen was a mess from all the baking and crafting, I didn't mind because we made so many fun memories!  

 Later in the week, my friend Fawn Johnson invited me and the kids over to make some Thanksgiving crafts.  I hadn't seen her for awhile so it was great chatting and catching up.  The kids were getting along so well that we kept on chatting all the way up until dinner time so she invited us to stay for dinner too!
