I love the 4th of July because the kids look forward to it all year! It
is almost as big of a deal to them as Christmas is. Brett was in
charge of the 4th of July breakfast. Honestly, I was a little nervous
because Brett has never put on such a big an event as this for the ward
before. Thankfully, our friend in the ward volunteered to cook the
food! Brett conducted the ceremony and even assigned himself a talk.
:) It all worked out and glad it's over. That evening we went to the
Vance family for a BBQ and fireworks. We invited our good friends, Mike
and Fawn Johnson and their daughter Nyah to join us. The food was
really good! The Vance's had bought the day before a trampoline so that
kept the kids entertained all day while the adults could visit. Fawn
brought face paint and that was a hit too. Some of the kids got a
little crazy with the pain on their faces. Clark and Daisy were so
excited for fireworks that they couldn't eat their food. Finally, it
was firework time. We went out to their neighborhood and did the
traditional fireworks of sparklers and snappers. We did some fireworks
that shot up in the sky and let out a parachute guy. The kids would run
after the parachute guy as he descended down. One even landed in the
neighbors tree After dessert, the real fireworks started. Since all
fireworks are legal in Washington, we had quiet the show. It was so
loud and so many that it sounded like a war zone.
