Back in October 2013, Brett applied to a program at PSU to become a elementary school teacher. Brett was the first one to turn in all his paper work for the program. We wouldn't know until mid April 2014 whether or not he got into the program. Well April came and went and no word from the school. They finally e-mailed the participants late April and said they should know by mid May. Again, May came and no word. As you can imagine, we were very frustrated. Finally in June they called Brett and said they needed some extra paper work that they earlier said he didn't need. It was very frustrating. In the end, he wasn't accepted into the program Brett worked SO HARD for.
Brett kept in good spirits but I on the other hand was fuming and ready to call or e-mail the program director with some not so nice words. The whole situation was very frustrating and disappointing.
But the "rainbow" to this story is....Brett found a computer programing program and took the test to get in. We found out he was accepted into the program minutes after he completed the test. They said he had one of the highest test scores they have ever seen. Brett is very excited about this program. He has already started the program and is working so hard on it. It looks like I will be a widow this summer because he is going to spend all of his time completely this program. He would like to be done by the end of this summer. There is an high demand for a computer programer so he hopes to land a job quickly after he finishes this program.
The same week, I took the kids on a walk. Clark rode his bike that he got from Grandma and Grandpa Lewis for his birthday and I pulled the wagon with the girls inside. On the walk we stopped by a family's home who we hadn't seen at church for awhile. From past visits, this family never lets us in so I knew our visit would be like any other visit, at the door. We left our bike and wagon next to their mailbox knowing that we would only be a minute. At this visit, they actually let us in. We visited with the family for less than ten minutes. When we came out, the bike and wagon were GONE. I was shocked and heartbroken. The kids couldn't believe someone would steal their stuff. I felt even worse because I knew I should have brought the bike and wagon closer to the home instead of by the street. The kids quickly forgave me and haven't brought it up since.
Then a "rainbow" came after this "storm".....Someone heard of what happened and gave Clark their son's bike that he out grew. They fixed it up so it was ready to use and even gave Clark a helmet to go with it. It was such a sweet tender act of love. This person didn't even know me but they wanted to do something good for someone else.
The Lord is watching over us and is aware of disappointments and heart aches. When "storms" come our way, it's only because God has a "rainbow" for us later.

You are so great to recognize the great in each situation! It would be easy to still fume over them! That breaks my heart about his bike and wagon! But so glad to hear that there are still great people out there! Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing these disappointing experiences, that turned out to have a happy ending. Yes, there are rainbows at the end of those sorrows. We're so proud of Brett for being proactive and pushing forward in furthering his education. Very well written, Viv.
